Oh say it isn't so............yep! I am getting ready for Christmas already! Christmas in July that is! In order to give my customers a better idea of the designs I will have for this years coasters and tile art, I am going to be putting them on etsy in July. This will allow for plenty of time for any custom orders for the holidays! I can create any of the designs in any multitude of sets...need 4, done! Need 24, not a problem! Need more than that...let's say for business, not a problem! The more time I allow for orders, the better I can meet the demand. :-)

  • When I'm not in my right mind, my left mind gets pretty crowded.

  • Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.

  • It is hard to understand how a cemetery raised its burial cost and blamed it on the cost of living.

    In Memory Of George Carlin

In Memory of the GREAT George Carlin who passed away Sunday June 22nd at the age of 71 I wanted to share something of his that I have had posted on my ME page in ebay for several years now. It is so true and so funny!
    We will miss you George!

    George Carlin's View

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.
"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50

    And your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90's, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"

May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

What Is It With Stubborn Men?

Let me start by clarifying that I have been married to a wonderful man for going on 10 yrs now and I wouldn't trade him for anything but..........
He has this stubborn streak that just kills me at times! Not that he does anything bad, just annoying I guess you could say.
    Take this week for example--
He has used this "antique" lawn mower forever--even though we have 2 much newer ones in the garage! His mower, his favorite one, is so old it is ORANGE! It has a cracked body, the frame is about shot, it doesn't have the auto shut off, it even used a milk cap as an oil cap for a while for heavens sake! Well this week the string FINALLY broke and I was set to finally "bury" it in with a wonderful yard ceremony (no fancy clothes required but please wear something green or orange in honor of it) and he dug his heals in and with the help of his father, he has resurrected (for the hundreth time) his orange mower with a new motor! Here is a pic of him installing the darn thing:

Within minutes I heard the dreaded.......it roared to life! Damn!
Now please understand that I am all for using what you have until it is truly dead or used up but this is pathetic! I think he keeps this one going because he knows I won't use it and since mine is still waiting for repair, he is the only one who gets to mow the lawn! Not that I "enjoy" mowing the lawn mind you but I would like to help him once in a while since he works up to 60 hr a week. He even foolishly thought I wanted to go buy a new one....for heavens sake why would I want to do that when I have one lying in wait already!
So there mine still sits....waiting in the garage for just a taste of his tlc....mine mows so much nicer, cuts a wider path, and yes, it has the auto shut-off.

    So Many Changes......

Oh how life is filled with changes! Some good..some fair...and some so darn yucky that ya wish ya didn't have to deal with them!

Mentioning in particular my long history with eBay. I have been with them since 1999 and thought I would never leave but boy have things been changing concerning that lately. Everyone knows the drastic changes and fee hikes ebay made yet again a couple months back and it has really taken its toll this time. I am afraid the writing is on the wall for me concerning them.....

BUT on the brighter side......I have a new love affair happening with etsy! Things are so much more relaxed there...it is a buy it now environment (no bidding)--you see it, you like it, you buy it! The site can carry most of my items (it only allows crafted items/art/vintage pieces/supplies) so it works for me. It has grown a lot recently but still has a way to go before many can really make a living at it but I have fingers crossed that it will keep on an upwardly path.

So here I sit trying to figure out how I will make our ends meet while I am amidst all this change, the economy, the gas prices, etc. I will figure something out....I always do! If it means doing farmers markets, I'm there! If I have to look into various fairs, I'm there! Heck, if I have to have garage sales, I'm there! Anything to keep the electricity on...... :-)

With that said, I must return to work now as I have several neat vintage items I want to get ready to list on etsy

    Way Cool Coasters!

How retro cool are these! I have had a blast creating these and I hope people will enjoy them as much as I have! I also have some of my 1930s McCall pattern coasters listed this week as well. Those are so chic and glam! I have more to list yet tonight into tomorrow and then I will be working on my newest creation...
Enjoy and if you like these, you can find them at my etsy site www.onamoonbeam.etsy.com

Tornadoes, Wind, Rain & More Flooding!

Today we had 2 tornado alarms almost back to back with one touching down somewhere in town here (haven't dared leave the house yet) again and making its way through other towns as well. We have thanked our lucky stars though as no major damage has come of it to our home personally.
We had just wind damage to our beautiful flower beds and the outdoor furniture went for a fun wind ride but nothing more than that. Phew!
Roads are closed all over though so looks like we will be home bound for a bit...like we ever travel very far anyway! :)
We are growing very found lately of our 100 yr old basement....we can't seem to go even a full day without this awful weather and tornado alarms so we scurry right down there! Cats will follow but stupid dog won't go down the stairs! This is the same creature who ran out onto our roof and galloped all over the place before we caught her....but basement stairs freak her out! Sheesh!
Looks like another round is coming so will keep this short...back later with pics of what I have been trying to work on during this chaos!

    Flowers In Bloom

These are from my garden...I can not believe they have survived the awful weather we have been having lately! Granted some of the blooms have taken a huge hit but many are just as glorious as these...and they smell divine!
We have yet another bad day on tap for tomorrow weather wise around here so I thought I had better capture them while I still could. Enjoy!

    Sunset of Fire

    Isn't this sunset magnificent!
We have had some very rough weather around here lately but after all the horror is over, we always seem to end up with a glorious prize in the end. Kind of like Mother Nature is saying you survived what I threw at you so here is your gift.

    Still Learning.......

Who knew creating a decent blog page would be so hard! Sheesh! I am still toodling (is that really a word?) around here trying to figure this all out and I feel I am now suffering from "brain fry"!

I am certain this is a piece of cake for those who mastered it, but for me.......

I will get it all down it will just take forever and a day! :-)

    Meanwhile......

Over on etsy I am working on listing many great vintage sewing patterns and I have also created these fabulous tile coasters! I used my 1930s McCall images for my initial inspiration but my next batch will consist of very kitsch pics from the 40s and 50s! Very retro cool and I can not wait til those are ready!

    Just love creating!

Now back to figuring this darn site out...........
